Q: What inspired you to start Belyed, and why focus exclusively on resort wear and kaftans?

I started Belyed eight years ago out of a personal need. A few years ago, I discovered my passion for sailing and realized that the resort wear market was polarized—either extremely expensive or very cheap, with little in between. There was a gap for high-quality pieces with elegant, chic cuts that allow you to enjoy your vacation in style.

I’ve always valued exclusivity and uniqueness in fashion. I prefer wearing pieces that stand apart from mass trends, offering that ‘je ne sais quoi’ touch that is often missing today.

Fashion today is dictated by rigid rules that don’t always suit every woman. We often overlook how women’s bodies change over time, and with age, our wardrobe needs to evolve as well. Resort wear is part of that journey, but it shouldn’t mean compromising on elegance and sophistication.

Q: How does Belyed differentiate itself from other luxury resort wear brands?

Belyed is a brand with a distinct DNA, built from the start to establish a strong identity that resonates with every client. My goal is to create:

  1. Timeless pieces – We don’t follow trends; we create trends that last. Our designs are meant to be worn for years, made with high-quality fabrics and impeccable finishing to ensure longevity. Timeless fashion isn’t just about style—it’s about durability and craftsmanship that allow you to keep and cherish your pieces for years.
  2. Versatile pieces – Our designs are meant to be worn for different occasions, whether at the beach, a lunch, or a dinner. It all depends on how you style and accessorize them. I love hearing customers say, ‘I’ve worn my pieces so many times,’ because it means they’ve been able to enjoy their outfits across multiple occasions while feeling confident and elegant.
  3. Free-size comfort – One of my main priorities when designing is ensuring comfort, especially during summer. Heat, bloating, or weight fluctuations shouldn’t stop you from feeling good in your clothes. That’s why I focus on breathable, high-quality fabrics and relaxed silhouettes that let you enjoy your summer without compromising on style.”

Q: You recently launched a line of handcrafted luxury bags. What inspired this expansion?

“I have always dreamed of offering a wide range of accessories to complement the resort wear line, giving each client the opportunity to find the perfect matching pieces for her outfit. At the same time, I wanted to create handbags that embody the spirit of Belyed—handcrafted, unique, and deeply rooted in artisanal craftsmanship.

Preserving the handmade essence and celebrating craftsmanship was essential, but so was ensuring that each bag felt like a true resort wear accessory. Every piece is carefully crafted from meticulously chosen materials, maintaining exclusivity through limited editions that make each item truly special.”These bags also turned out to be the perfect accessory not only for resort wear but for elegant outings and dinners, making them as versatile as they are timeless

Q: As an entrepreneur, what have been the biggest challenges in building a luxury fashion brand?

“With all modesty, I didn’t face major challenges in building my brand. Coming from a background in luxury fashion and multinational companies, I never aimed to compete with anyone. My goal was to create a niche brand that speaks to customers like me—women with a normal life who still want to look elegant, chic, and different from the mass market.

Today, luxury isn’t just about expensive pieces. For me, true luxury is owning unique designs that stand out for their quality and exclusivity. And in a world driven by mass production, maintaining that standard of uniqueness and craftsmanship is the biggest challenge.”

Q: How do you balance creativity with business strategy as a fashion entrepreneur?

“I started Belyed eight years ago as a one-woman show, handling everything from A to Z until I was able to build the right team to manage operations professionally. Today, I focus on what I love most—selecting fabrics, creating unique textiles, and designing each collection with passion.

I’m still deeply involved in key strategies and the brand’s growth, especially from a retail perspective. Belyed is my baby, and I’m very intentional about how and where it is positioned in the market.”

Q: What advice would you give to entrepreneurs entering the luxury fashion space?

I always emphasize three key principles:

  1. Don’t start a business just to make money. Build a business driven by passion and ambition to grow into something meaningful. Success and financial rewards will follow.
  2. Work hard—nothing comes easy. Especially today, with intense competition, standing out requires dedication, perseverance, and consistent effort.
  3. Be patient. Success doesn’t happen overnight. Time is your greatest ally. Learn from your mistakes—they are what help you grow and ultimately succeed.”

Q: What’s next for Belyed? Any exciting plans?

I always strive to grow Belyed and continue adding new elements to the brand, but I take it step by step. My next project is introducing jewelry—but I won’t reveal too much just yet. Maybe you’ll see it in next year’s collection!”
